If you stand on the corner where Abbotsford Park meets Morningside Road and look down the hill, you can see all the way to Blackford Hill, which when I was a teenager in St Catherine’s Place was always my goal for a Saturday walk: a long way, but sun and grass and gorse bushes for shelter.
