It was still raining a little when I saw this, but not as heavily as earlier. It’s a pipe from the roof feeding rainwater into the gutter, which has turned into a lake with oil slick. It’s a harbour with a stone seawall and metal buildings. And clinging to the stone and metal, in either view of this, sharp bright green plants.

At the Edinburgh Festival Fringe: a section of the Royal Mile is closed off to everything but foot traffic for three weeks in August. People prepare to celebrate, even in the rain…

In West Parliament Square, a camp of white tents shudder in the rain. The road block by St Giles is set up for street theatre and foot traffic, so long as the Festival Fringe lasts.

On North Fort Street, one of the drains was blocked and a lake had swiftly formed over the cobbles, one shore the speed bump.
It has been raining a lot recently.

The Water of Leith below the Great Junction Street bridge, still after rain, aside from four ducks. This photo is available on Redbubble: Water of Leith.

Along by Dock Place, just before you veer left into the pedestrianised walkway facing the Scottish Government, there’s a dead-end cobbled street, planted with young trees that will someday provide shade, and a stretch of gutter that gets blocked and floods the cobbled street after any heavy rain. A good place for reflections.
I took this photo here. It’s available on Redbubble: Tree in water and in a 2009 calendar: Strange Sky.
