Water of Leith: swans

There is a breeding pair of mute swans whose territory is the Water of Leith, from the Shore up to Broughton. I see them almost every day.

A young swan, partly brown-feathered, stands by the Water of Leith. A baby swan is a cygnet: an adolescent swan, fully-grown but still with some of its baby feathers, is a swagnet.
