Water of Leith Conservation Trust:

Sunday 14th December. Clean-up. Balerno. 10am – 12.30pm. Meet at Currie Rugby Club car park in Balerno. Take the 1st left after Balerno High School off Bridge road onto Bavelaw Road. Take the next left off Bavelaw Road. As before, we provide all the equipment just wear sensible warm outdoor clothes that you don’t mind getting mucky, walking boots / wellies and bring waterproofs just in case.

I would love to do this but have no means of getting out to Balerno and back except by public transport.

Footpath to the bus stop

Footpath through grass

From the road to the bus stop, there’s a footpath made by people taking the most direct route. Over and over again you see this happen: planners design paths and steps where people ought to go, ignoring what must surely be their own experience: footpaths happen where people want them to be. This photo is available on Redbubble: City Path.

Cobbles and grass

cobbles and grass at sunset

All over Edinburgh, the same grey cobbles. Between the cobbles, tiny valleys of dirt. Where people often walk, or cars run, nothing grows. In any area sheltered from traffic, you can see these tiny gardens forming: grass and moss and even flowers. Green is tough. This photo was taken at sunset.
