The Water of Leith: above the weir
Water of Leith Conservation Trust:
Sunday 14th December. Clean-up. Balerno. 10am – 12.30pm. Meet at Currie Rugby Club car park in Balerno. Take the 1st left after Balerno High School off Bridge road onto Bavelaw Road. Take the next left off Bavelaw Road. As before, we provide all the equipment just wear sensible warm outdoor clothes that you don’t mind getting mucky, walking boots / wellies and bring waterproofs just in case.
I would love to do this but have no means of getting out to Balerno and back except by public transport.

Tower Street puddle
I saw Fishers and their hopeful street planter reflected in a puddle on Tower Street: and behind it all the guddle of the street being dug up. For some reason.

Portobello Public Baths: upstairs
Portobello Public Baths were designed by Robert Morham, working for the Edinburgh City Architect’s Department of Edinburgh Council, in 1898, as part of the agreement that Portobello should become part of Edinburgh (on 1st November 1896). They were opened in 1901. Through most of the century they used to have a sea water pool and a fresh water pool (in the 1980s I used to belong to a sub-aqua club that used the sea water pool on Monday nights for training), but both pools are fresh water now. The Turkish baths were original to the building and are magnificent.
